About Twilight Brass Band

Twilight is an original New Orleans Traditional Brass Band spearheaded by New Orleans native Harold "Homeboy" Wilson. As a bass drummer-percussionist and entertainer, "Homeboy" was born and raised in the Historical Tremé, 6th Ward, New Orleans, and has a historical legacy that ties deeply with keeping the New Orleans tradition alive. The fifth generation of Brass Band Performers, "Homeboy," is the Great Grandson of Henry Booker T. Glass, one of the last musicians whose development pre-dated the Dixieland style of the early 1900s. As a pioneer of New Orleans' Traditional Brass Band music, Glass was an innovator that consolidated extraordinary talent that comprised the best New Orleans Musicians of that time. Booker T. Glass organized the first Black Musician Union for Preservation Hall. As an incredibly powerful bass drummer and bandleader, he performed with New Orleanians such as Louis Armstrong and Mahalia Jackson.

As a performer in traditional New Orleans 2nd line since age two, "Homeboy" is one of the most sought-after renowned performers in the Brass Band world of New Orleans. As an avid participant in the traditional parades for over 20 years and is dedicated to keeping this national treasure alive and well. "Homeboy" is also an original Grand Marshall for several organizations and has played with numerous Brass Bands, including Tremé, Olympic Brass Band, and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

Following in the footsteps of his legendary great grandfather as an innovator and who was the first brass band drummer to design a cymbal add to the bass drum, Homeboy creates and designs custom-made brass band drums that capture the Booker T. Glass original sound. Harold has spearheaded several bands and is an orator of the history and traditions of African American musicians and Brass Band groups in New Orleans.

Homeboy also designs exquisite New Orleans traditional parade umbrellas and is one of the founding members of two traditional New Orleans organizations dedicated to keeping traditional music on the streets; The Black Men of Labor Social Aid and Pleasure Club. His extensive resume also includes performing and touring with notable celebrities as a "hype man," introducing innovative and unique traditional New Orleans 2nd line dance, techniques, and styles choreographed within the shows. Harold has shared the stage with musical greats such as Grateful Dead, Shannon Powell, Russell Baptiste, Michael White, Zigaboo Modeliste, Dr. John, Stanton Moore, and Trombone Shorty.

And as the ONLY NEW ORLEANIAN spearheading a New Orleans Brass Band in California, he firmly believes that AUTHENTICITY is essential in showing respect for the music, traditions and those whose shoulders he stands upon. And this is what sets Twilight Brass Band apart from all other brass bands. Twilight consists of the best musicians from New Orleans and the Bay Area and will guarantee to bring you the best in AUTHENTIC traditional Brass Band music.
